Connection Speeds

It should also be noted that the speed at which the video clips can be downloaded to play will basically depend on the speed of your internet connection.

Video Players

In line with our policy to offer the best results when playing video clips QuickTime has now been selected as the preferred player and video files using this format will appear for all clips that are present. Although this player may take slightly longer to download (see issues regarding connection speeds below), we feel that the final quality of video presented justifies this decision. Note that QuickTime version 3 or later will be required (see general points below).

When selecting a video clip to play using QuickTime, the following will occur:

The video clip is being downloaded to your computer.

The video clip has finished downloading to your computer.

If problems exist when attempting to play the video clips, and the above steps do not occur then you may need to download the latest QuickTime player (see general points below). If the following appears on your screen when you click the link to see the QuickTime clip, then you need to install QuickTime:

If you still encounter problems after this then you can e-mail us at info@algarvevillavideos.com  with details and we will try and respond with any recommendations we may have.

If you do not have QuickTime installed on your PC and prefer to use Windows Media Player which is universally present on all PC's or Real Player as your movie clip player, then we are attempting to offer these video formats wherever possible as well.

With the emergence of cable modems, ADSL and Broadband lines these will offer dramatic improvement in download times. This will also enable us to improve both the quality and size of the video clips presented.

Note that if you subsequently play the same video clip again the next time you logon on to the internet, then the video will probably still be within the cache (memory) of your PC and begin to play immediately without having to wait for it to download.

General

We should like to point out that this site has been designed to take advantage of the latest technology available on the internet at this time, to try and meet the rising expectations of people using the service. The presentation of video clips reflects this idea. To facilitate this requires up to date software with regards to browsers and video player as outlined above. New PC's purchased today will invariably have these latest browsers and players already installed on them.

If you do not have QuickTime installed on your computer, download it from the internet through these links:
