The environment is the focus of special attention at Quinta do Lago because the resort falls within the Ria Formosa National Park. This tidal inlet is an internationally protected haven for migratory and nesting birds and a 'wetland' of world importance. To maintain the delicate ecological balance of one of Europe's last unspoilt coastlines and largest umbrella pine forest a strict low density building policy of eight percent of the total estate is observed. Properties are carefully integrated into these lovely surroundings, nestling at lakeside, secluded by woodland or flanking the golf courses. Two nature trails have been established to fully appreciate the beauty of the natural landscape.
